Winter Vaccinations & Staying Healthy
Flu Vaccine – December 2025 Update
- We have almost used up our stock of flu vaccines. If you are eligible, please call us on 01903 851073 to book your appointment.
- We still have nasal flu vaccines available for children aged 2 to 3 years old (as of 31 August 2025).
COVID-19 Vaccine – December 2025 Update
- Our COVID-19 vaccination clinics have now finished, and we are unable to offer this vaccine at the surgery.
- Local pharmacies may still have flu and COVID-19 vaccines available (subject to stock). Please contact them directly.
Other Vaccinations
You may also be eligible for:
- Pneumococcal Vaccine – if you are aged 65 or over.
- RSV Vaccine – if you are pregnant, aged 75 to 79, or turned 80 after 1 September 2024.
These vaccines help protect against serious winter illnesses, including pneumonia.
Who’s Most at Risk from Cold Weather?
People more vulnerable to cold include:
- Adults aged 65 and over
- Babies and children under 5
- People on a low income
- Those with long-term health conditions or disabilities
- Pregnant women
- People with mental health conditions
Get Advice if You Feel Unwell
If you’re in an at-risk group, seek help early:
- Pharmacy – for advice and treatment for minor illnesses.
- Your GP – online, by phone, or in person.
- NHS 111 – visit 111.nhs.uk or call 111 for urgent advice.
In an emergency, go to A&E or call 999.
Keep Warm & Stay Safe
- Heat your home to at least 18°C in rooms you use regularly.
- Keep bedroom windows closed at night.
- Check heating and cooking appliances are safe – use a Gas Safe registered engineer.
- Make sure your home is fire-safe – complete an online home fire safety check. HFSC
- Explore grants and benefits for help with heating and bills via GOV.UK or call 0800 444 202.
Look Out for Others
Older neighbours, friends, and family may need extra help:
- Check they have enough food and medicines.
- Encourage warm clothing and shoes with good grip.
- Keep in touch and offer practical help.
- If you’re worried about someone, contact your local council or call Age UK on 0800 678 1602 (8 am–7 pm daily).
If you’re concerned the person may have hypothermia, visit 111.nhs.uk or call 111.
